Sandblasting ~ A technique where sand projected by a compressor abrades the surface of the glass. Sandblasting can penetrate deeply and can carve the surface of thick glass
The preparation and application of the resist is the main skill of sandblasting the resist protects the glass surface from the abrasive power of the pressurised sand. Areas left exposed to the sand jet will be abraded or frosted.
Etching allows commemorative details to be included in the design. Wedding dates, births, memorial etc.
